Lance Briggs might be headed to New Orleans at some point, but it won't be immediately. 

The linebacker, now an unrestricted free-agent, shot down talks that he's headed to visit the Saints. 

"It's just a false rumor,"' Briggs said Friday evening. "That's all I can say.'"

Briggs' plans likely were altered when the Saints traded with the Jets for linebacker Jonathan Vilma Friday. 

The Saints, Buccaneers, Browns and 49ers are just a few of the teams with an interest in Briggs, although the 49ers might be out of the mix after signing linebacker Dontarrious Thomas from the Vikings.
