BROWNS BAG STALLWORTH
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 1, 2008, 5:57 p.m.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Cleveland Browns
have signed free-agent wide receiver Donte Stallworth.

Although terms of the deal have not been reported, Stallworth was said
to be seeking a deal that would pay about $5 million a year, with
about $10 million in guaranteed money. Stallworth became an
unrestricted free agent when he was released by the New England
Patriots just before a hefty roster bonus came due.

For the Browns, the addition of Stallworth should make their passing
attack even more potent. Quarterback Derek Anderson had a good first
season as the team's starter in 2007, and shortly after locking
Anderson up for three more years, the Browns have now given him
another weapon.

Cleveland has been one of the more active teams in the early days of
the new league year, and Browns fans had better hope the team made the
right calls on their veteran contracts. The Browns have traded away
their first-, second- and third-round picks in this year's draft,
meaning they won't get the influx of young talent that most NFL teams
count on.
