Subject: Bears could be in tough spot
Posted by ESPN.com's Mike Sando
Losing Bernard Berrian to the Vikings puts pressure on the Bears to find a starting receiver either by trade or through the draft, barring an unforeseen push for the last remaining impact receiver in free agency, Randy Moss.
The Bears hold the 14th overall choice this year. They won't necessarily seek out a receiver there. Few teams have. In fact, no team has taken a receiver 14th overall since the Chargers drafted John Jefferson in 1978. The last five players drafted 14th played defense, including 2004 Bears selection Tommie Harris.
Teams generally have a hard time drafting receivers who play well right away. The Chiefs' Dwayne Bowe and the Colts' Anthony Gonzalez were exceptions as first-round choices last year. The Vikings paid a high price for Berrian, but the Bears could pay in other ways next season.
