In fairness to Vic, the Broncos are more the exception than the rule. At 
minimum most teams end up having to draft a first round left tackle (as 
the Bears did). Statistically that's where you find the majority of 
them. And good ones almost never hit the FA market.

The other positions are different and IMO you are right. They can often 
be found anywhere.
