What always baffled me about Booty was the way he never threw a good spiral.
The two or three games I saw him play, I thought the ball floated and
wobbled on him.  There was really never any zip on that pass to where he
could slip it past a pro cornerback, I thought.  I saw these quick, big or
physical USC WRs make him look good by burning mediocre defenders on routes
where a pro DB would never bite.  Then Booty would loft it in there after
holding it too long.  Looks good in college; never fly in the NFL.

Is that anyone else's impression?  Frankly, I'll be surprised if he ever
consistently starts in the NFL.

And yes, Jim, you can squirrel this post away too to roast me some day down
the road.  ;  )
