Colt McCoy a fan of Chicago Bears rookie receiver Johnny Knox

*By Vaughn McClure*

University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy has yet to step foot on an NFL
field, but the Heisman Trophy candidate apparently has a good eye for
talented receivers.

McCoy attended one Abilene (Texas) Christian game last season to watch his
little brother, Chance, play receiver for the Wildcats. Abilene's top
receiver last season was Bears rookie Johnny Knox, who caught 56 passes for
1.069 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Chance McCoy, who was in Lake Forest working Brian Urlacher's youth camp the
last three days, talked about his big brother's reaction to Knox's play.

"Colt compared (Knox) favorably to Jordan Shipley and Quan Cosby at Texas,''
Chance McCoy said. "He said Johnny was the same type of guy, just at a
smaller school. He said there was no doubt he'd be able to play in the
NFL.''

Chance McCoy, now a redshirt sophomore, played two years alongside Knox and
learned plenty.

"I liked watching him run little slants and hitches because he catches it in
a crowd, and before you can snap, he's already out of the crowd,'' McCoy
said. "He did it in junior college. He did it at Abilene. I think he has the
chance to be a great NFL receiver.''

The Bears feel the same way. Knox's performance during organized team
activities brought back memories of Bernard Berrian. We'll see if Knox can
ride that momentum through training camp.
