n the subject of the Bears’ defensive line, we hear new position coach *Rod
Marinelli* is particularly pumped up over the prospect of a Pro Bowl-caliber
season from DE *Alex Brown*. We also hear that, after adding up to 30 pounds
last year to help him handle the extra heavy lifting at defensive tackle,
sixth-year pro *Israel Idonije* is in the process of quickly dropping that
weight, as the team plans on using him more at end this coming season. The
hope is that the weight loss will help Idonije become more of a factor on
special teams after not offering nearly as much of an impact in that area in
’08 as he did the previous season.
